Are you using feedburner? If yes, then you must be knowing that it offers tracking of your feed URLs. It actually tracks the number of views and clicks your feed have recieved. These stats are useless because I am sure most of us use Google Analytics or other means of tracking these stats. Now, coming to the point if you are using the default URL from feedburner then there is some serious problem you need consider. The default feedburner URL displays like a junk something like this http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/bloggertalkz/~3/OfVlynKjQwE/ which is not search engine friendly. This will have an impact on your page ranking as well.

 feedburner

But not to worry much because we can make the feeds search engine friendly by disabling this view tracking feature from your feedburner account. It is very simple, go to your feedburner account, select your feed and under Analyze -> Configure stats, uncheck Item link clicks option.

Now if you see your feed urls, you can see they don’t have the feedburner tracking code and the feed items urls are directly pointing to your posts only. Now your feeds will get easy backlinks to your original post if they are used anywhere.

Hope this tip was useful. If you have a different opinion please do share in the comment area.

Hello Salwa,

I changed that setting and even resynced my Feedburner account and still my CommentLuv links have feedproxy.google.com instead of direct links to my domain. Do you know what else I may need to change at either Google/Feedburner or WordPress?

To the above commenter: I know there used to be an issue with feedburner where it wouldn’t show the proper feeds despite doing Salwa’s tip. I could’ve sworn they fixed that a good while, ago, though, so I’m not sure what it’d be. Have you thought about contacting Feedburner support?
