This post is to help you choose the right platform for your blog.
When it comes to choosing a platform for your blog there are several option if you are planning to install own your own. As of my view Wordpress and Blogger and the two leading blogging platforms but there are other options as well like Movable Type and Type pad.
I have used Blogger.com for quite some time and its good but still I use and can highly recommend Wordpress. The main reason for this is that I find it very user friendly while I need to customize or work with the codes. Also, Wordpress has got lot of plugins which comes handy when you have a blog. In other words Wordpress is recommended because –
§ Lots and lots of free plug-ins available
§ Easy to find free themes to change look and feel, and even search engine friendliness
§ It is completely free to use, even commercially
Having said that I don’t say that blogger and movable type are not good because there are a chunk of bloggers who prefer to use these platforms rather that Wordpress but that’s my view.
What I have said so far is just to give you an idea of what are the various platforms and which one to choose. At the end it is you who has to decide which platform suits well for your blog. I would suggest that whatever you do, install the software in your own domain so that you have the option to change later if you wish to do so. Finally, do some more research into the options before choosing the software.
